Knowing my luck, it is not DOS compatible. After playing around with it for a few days now, the lack of sound in DOS bothers me and is hopefully something the sound card I have on the way will solve. The driver situation was a nightmare, but I did eventually get working sound and video out of a board that, for all intents, was not made with this application in mind. When the fdisk menu opens, select option 5 (Change current fixed disk drive) and press enter. When you get to a command prompt type 'fdisk' and press enter. If the replacement disk is already partitioned, skip to step 12. When prompted, select the option to start without cd/rom support. Literally, I only need DOS to be able to partition the SD card and I use the boot USB that I made following a PhilsComputerLab tutorial with the Windows 98 installation files on it.Įdit 3: My Dell Dimension 3000 now has Windows 98 SE working. Boot the console with the 'boot98se' disk in the floppy drive. And have now run into a new problem: I have no idea how to allow the VM to install/partition the SD card. ![]() So now I am back to trying the DOS in VM method. Therefore, I have no way to connect the SD card to the computer. I will post an update as soon as I attempt this tomorrowĮdit 2: My epiphany was a dud as the only IDE connector on my Inspiron is for an IDE Floppy drive. I could just do all of this there, maybe. I have a Dell Inspiron tower that I use as a XP gaming machine. Any help would be greatly appreciatedĮdit: I just had an epiphany. Is there a good guide to do this via VM so I can just swap it over to the computer? The CD Rom drive in the PC is fried, otherwise, I would burn a disc and be done with it. ![]() I have a Dell Dimension 3000 that I am wanting to put Windows 98 on.
